The new game engine provides enemies that make you shudder when imagining the pain they must be going through, and Raccoon City has never looked so torn apart. Jill, Carlos, and the rest of the cast all look superb. Looks Good, Sounds GoodĬapcom has done a fantastic job of remaking Resident Evil 3. Every aspect of the game, from the visuals to the mechanics, has been finely tuned to make for the optimal experience, and that’s what makes it so compelling. It might sound short, but this is a really fulfilling experience that you won’t soon forget, and it’ll make you want to play it over again. I loved the game’s story, and finished it in just under 8 hours in Standard difficulty. The pace of the story matches the force of Nemesis, pushing you through some tight sequences, then giving you a short breather before hitting you back even harder.

From the very start the game drops you in the deep end, having to avoid Nemesis as he hunts you down, and if you don’t act fast, then you really are going to die a lot. When I say bus, I mean Nemesis, because he’s the real focal point of this game isn’t he? You meet Jill Valentine just as things start to go south in Raccoon City, and while her main priority is saving it, she’s also got to fight for her life against an antagonist that is quite literally an unstoppable killing machine. I won’t bore you with the details, because they’re all essential, but it’s a story that keeps you hooked from start to end, and keeps you thinking about it in your dreams. The game’s story matches the original’s exactly, though some parts have been tweaked to make them better in subtle ways. Everything has been revamped in this release, and it’s mostly for the better. It’s a non-stop journey of stress as you control Jill Valentine through the streets of Raccoon City in its final hours, and you’ve got a stalker. It might have even been the best one to date to never have happened.Resident Evil 3 Remake starts out by punching you in the throat, and it doesn’t really get any easier from there. I feel like to be a complete experience, it needs it. I don't just think that Resident Evil 3 remake would benefit from it. I think of the many games that have received this new directors cut trend, or definitive edition or whatever you want to call it. I think it's fair to say it's not happening. I held out hope for a while when I first read the rumours about a directors cut for Resident Evil 3 remake but. I loved Nemesis back in the day but it's no secret that it's not entirely loved by the fan base and many at the time felt it was a step back from RE:2, even though I thought it was equally as good.Īnd no Barry. The lab is over in about half an hour.Īnd yet in all this, there are signs that this game could have been an exceptionally good game that far exceeded the original title. Town Hall is cut completely from the game, replaced by a boss battle. No meeting Carlos at the restaurant or at the editors office.

We do go to a power station of sorts but it's not the same and it cuts out all the exploration of the city.

I mean no arguments from me there but that's a lot of exploration that takes to to the pharmaceutical lab, the power station and around town hall such as the petrol station. I mean we don't need to fix the tram as it's now a subway car. Many areas of the game were just cut completely, many character interactions, many puzzles and locations. But only for the six or so hours that it lasted. (I mean seriously Capcom, just remake Outbreak, why the hell continue making these multi-player games that never reach main stream success?) The game itself looked incredible, played really, really well. Which is incredibly sad in a way because someone like myself who loved these games growing up, was absolutely hyped up for the idea of Resident Evil 3 being remade in the same vein as Resident Evil 2.īut what we got? A tacked on multi-player mode that nobody asked for and I think few gamers wanted. But to be fair, it's not happening is it? It is exactly what it is, a rumour. Let's be honest, there's been rumours about Resident Evil 3 Nemesis Edition for some time.
